'15th August 08' I spoke to the hall hire guy last night in Camborne.. They're booked at the end of the month so today I've been on the phone to the Penzance Leisure Centre and I've got the hall on Sunday 31st from 1 until 5 for the Kenny Baker seminar! I need some numbers so let me know asap if you're coming.
'13th August 08' Hey Guys... It's been ages since we had anyone down to teach a seminar and now it turns out that there's going to be two. On the 31st of this month I'm getting Kenny Baker down again to teach. It's on a Sunday and will probably run from 1pm, though I'm not sure whether it will be in PZ or Camborne yet. This will cost £20 and is a bargain as Kenny is really good! Shortly after me booking that I got a text from Rocky in Newquay to say that he's getting Kevin Chan down for a seminar and that any of us are welcome to go along. Kevin is a bjj black belt and will be teaching on Saturday 6th at the Koncept gym. His seminar is £30.
Anyone that's interested in either of these then let me know and I'll sort out places, maybe arrange lifts etc. As a final note then Samurai Karate are getting Iain Abernethy down to teach on the 30th of August. He's quite big in the Karate world and wants to show some 'Karate Grappling' techniques that are in their Katas. It's not really our usual sort of thing, but if you've got an interest in the area then you could give Kevin (samurai karate cornwall) a call and see if he's got any space left.
'29th July 08' Two fights in two weeks! and a 1 and 1 result which I'm happy with. I spent a lot of energy in that last fight despite it lasting less than three minutes. Unfortunately I fell into a guillotine (again) but I'd burnt myself out earlier in the round throwing punches and didn't have the energy to escape. Had I known how much time I had left in the round then I may have continued to try but I didn't mind the result. It certainly didn't feel like a loss and my hands will probably be bruised for a while. S&H is a good show to fight on, it's well run and supported. The next one I think is planned for November and you'll probably see me there again!
'22nd July 08' I've tried quite a few different makes of rash guard now, and have settled on Atama as my favourite. I used to use Koral Rashguards, but now I find that they ride up and expose my blubbery guts :) Atama rashguards are thicker and have a strong elasticated waist. I used to buy mine from blackeagle.co.uk but they're selling them off cheap to make way for a new range called bulldog. If you want to grab a cut price Atama Rashguard then there's a link to their Ebay site here! Click!
'16th July 08' Well that was a good way to celebrate my 29th! I couldn't have asked for a better result, a win in the first round and escaping with only a bruised leg is a big bonus. Thanks to Owen for doing such a good job cornering for me. We were a lot more professional than last year (last year we didn't have a clue), and were even organised enough this time to have luxuries such as masking tape for the gloves and ice in the bucket! I was very impressed!
I'm considering having another pop in the cage in Exmouth. I might do one more fight at 73k's, but after that I'll probably drop to 70. Anyway, I'll keep you posted. Strength and Honour Fight Night 2 is on at Exmouth on the 27th of July (about a week and a half away) and the tickets will be £20. If I'm not on the show then I'll be there to cheer on Kim Philips (Falmouth MMA) anyway. I'm going to focus more with my boxing coach over the next couple of weeks
'9th June 08' We Are Moving!
As from Thursday 3rd of July the Threemilestone club will be moving to the Camborne Centenary Hall. I'll put directions up on the contacts page, but it's only about 5 mins walk from the train station and pretty easy to find. It's also a lot bigger so we will be able to make use of all of the mats (finaly)! Sessions will now start at 19:30 as we have to have exited the building by 22:00.
'6th June 08' Tickets for the Penzance Show are now available (Sunday 13th July). They're
£20 each and you can get them through me if you want to come along. The doors open at 12:30 and the Current fight card for the event is listed
below!
Also... If any clubs have any particularly weak looking girls looking to fight at about 50 kilo's (or lighter) with lots of body armour on then I 'might' be able to talk Mark or Owen into getting into the ring with them! (hahahahaha!!)

'14th May 08' Well Mondays are quiet, Wednesdays are busy and Thursdays are ok so I'm happy. I've realised that the poster I made for the Penzance leisure centre has vanished so I've made a different one today. It's a bit rushed (I've had to nick some photo's from the website to make it), but as it turns out I think I like it better so I'll put it up tonight and you can judge for yourself. I've got more boxing footwork drills to try out with you on Monday and the standard of our 'stand up' in general is improving a lot so we'll continue the way we have been for the next few mondays.. if it aint broke, dont try to fix it!
On to other things... I've just been scanning the net and found that Kim (Falmouth MMA) has put his website up. It's not as pretty as ours of course, but the contents there and it's very entertaining to read! Check out his pic too!
actualbodilyharm.com(If you're running internet explorer then you'll have to paste it into your task bar as I can't get the link to work and have no idea why). Kim if you're reading this then I'll drop up to Falmouth ASAP to join your guys for a session with you, but my bike is up on a stand with one wheel missing at the mo as I'm fixing it up for it's mot. Unfortunately Owen's still not training and Falmouth is a long walk for me!
And... Norbert emailed me! For those of you that wondered what happened to 'the next Randy Couture' since christmas it seems that he left us to join the Lithuanian Army!
'1st May 08' My copy of the Exmouth fight disc arrived yesterday. I'll hand it around for anyone that wants to see it. The Cameras that they've used seem to be really good quality, but unfortunately the editing and camera placement isn't brilliant. There's a board that blocks about 25% of the cage out when one camera is on it and at times the shots either pan in too close to see what's happening or are focusing on something else so you miss a lot of the action. Still, it was worth buying a copy for JP's fight alone and now I see exactly what you meant by the little kung fu chap trying kung fu chops on his opponents leg to escape a hold.. that's rediculous!
'14th April 08' Hmm. At work again.. not a lot on, so I thought I'd put up a couple of acrobatic looking photo's of last night's class up on the website.. but once again I've left the camera in TMS after training. If I had brains I'd be dangerous!
'14th April 08' Well we're back online again. After a month of absolute frustration (me dying of severe manflu for three weeks, my training partners all being unable to train with me and an injury that nearly caused me to drop out) the fourth week went brilliantly. I got lots of training done, a little fitness too and had come up with some sort of gameplan for my fight. Unfortunately early into the first round I found myself in a vice like guillotine from closed guard and had to tap as I felt myself going out. I managed to stack to relieve the pressure but forgot to get my shoulder in the right place and left it too late to do anything about it. To say that I was annoyed at myself would be the understatement of the century. Full credit to my opponent. He obviously was waiting for my kick to shoot in on me, got the takedown then a tight side control. I managed to turn him over but didn't secure my control quick enough and ended up in his guard. Andy Costello and Dave Matthews also deserve credit for putting on such a good show as does Marc Doyle for making his amateur MMA Debut. Also I'm looking forward to seeing the official dvd to see again the monster of a fight that John Paul (Koncept Gym Newquay) went through to win.
'12th March 08' I've temporarily taken down the news page as two of our guys are fighting next month. News will return on the 14th! See you on the Mat!
Also.. has anyone got any mp3's they can stick on a CD for me. If you'd like to listen to something different when you train then drop it on a CD and I'll add it to the player. Something with a bit
of a tune please.. none of Kate's death music

. Thank you.
'22nd February 08' Hey Guys. Not much to report at the moment. Last nights session was good and I'm really starting to notice big improvements with your performance on the mat now. Next week we'll be focusing more on clinch and sparring on Monday, Wednesday we'll go over escapes and on Thursday I'll show you some more of my current top game. I'll be pestering you with a camera on Monday as I've agreed to put an add in the police safety mag that they're producing for the spring. tap, tap!
'9th February 08' Next weeks plan.. More takedowns and Pad drills on Monday.. Wednesday and Thursday we'll be working guard top and bottom as I've got some new tricks and pointers to share with you
'7th February 08' Well the club in TMS is closed tonight as the hall's pre-booked. Instead a few of us are off to Al's gym in Camborne. The class starts at 7:00 (be there early) and will cost £4! I'll see you there. ~Also last weeks Falmouth visit didn't happen as Kim had to work so I'll be going there this Sunday instead.
'30th January 08' Not much to report at the moment. It's guard passing tomorrow in TMS as I've got one that I like that I've been playing with recently. I was going to do some leg lock bits with you as well but I've burnt out my non existant calf muscles on a treadmill and my legs hurt so it will have to wait! Also TMS is closed on the 7th of Feb, not sure what I'll be doing yet and does anyone fancy going to Falmouth with me this Sunday?
'18th January 08' Homework Assignment People! Buy A Gumshield!
As from today you will no longer be able to roll or spar without one. They can cost as little as £2 so sort it out. I'm not back until Wednesday so you've got plenty of time.
'15th January 08' Just thought I'd republish the training schedule for Monday 21st as I'm sure you don't read old posts here. I'm on holiday so locally that leaves you with 'Mayo Shin do Judo - Marazion school hall 8:00-9:30 Clint 01736 710296'. 'Wing Chun Kung Fu - St Pauls old school (I think) Graham 07855048790' and Touch Gloves Thai Boxing - Touch Gloves Gym 7:30-9:00.
Also.. this Wednesday we'll be hitting half guard bottom position. See you on the mat!
'10th January 08' There was a slight mix up with the voting (last post) so if you can now go to
http://www.muaythaionline.org/features/bestbritishfemalefighteraward.html
and click on the section at the bottom your vote will be counted properly! Tonight in TMS we'll be doing more clinch surfing and some guard top work.. see you at eight!
'7th January 08' Hey Gang! I've just been to see the new gym extension at Touchgloves and have had a chat with Nathan. It seem's that Julie has been nominated for a very well deserved
Best British Female Of The Year award. Help to stop Cornwall from falling off the end of the map and support your local Ladies Thai Boxing champ by emailing
info@muaythaionline.org with her name along with the award that she's being nominated for. Julie's fought really hard and deserves this so hopefully with your support she'll get some much deserved recognition!(For details go to www.muaythaionline.org)
'5th January 08' Dates to Note for this year I've just had a call and have been given all of the TMS non training dates this year as the hall is already pre-booked. There will be no Thursday training on
7th February, 29th May and the 11th of September. also I'll be away on
Monday 21st January so I'd suggest you have a scout around and find another club. I've looked through the paper for you and have come up with either the Mayoshindo Judo Club in Marazion - phone Clint 01736 710296, Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu - Graham 07855048790 or of course Nathan and Julie down at the Touchgloves Gym.
'2nd January 08' HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS! Well 2008 is finally here! We've got a new poster and we're back in training again. I've just had my first roll of the year and was humbled within the first 10 mins so congratulations to 70's guy (pictured below) who managed to get the first sub of the year on me.. no prizes for guessing what that was! Anyway you'll all be pleased to know that Eventually Evil Triumphed over 70's Cheese and by the end of the session the forces of darkness were up 2-1 after securing an arm bar (surprise surprise) and a rear naked! I just thought I'd use this news posting to gloat!
